The extraordinary harmony of the landscape’s green hills, country roads, and cypress trees. A beautiful setting shaped by man with our walled villages, hilltop castles and sanctuaries, and expanses of farmland. But also untamed nature and rolling hills draped in the fields of grain of the Crete Senesi region. This distinctly wondrous land is one of the world’s most evocative, but for a number of years this very spot was somewhat incredibly held by the Italian mafia. It was taken back from the mafia in 1983 when the Italian magistrate Giovanni Falcone sequestered it as part of his efforts to combat organised crime. In 2019, Tenuta Suvignano (now controlled by Ente Terre Regionali Toscane) was finally returned to the community.
